Griff appears to be fairly high up within the underground community of Lower Mobius. He was the one sent to try and help find ways for them to survive living under Robotnik's fortress. After missions to find a new source were hopeless, he ran into Sonic, Antoine and Sally. He saved them from Sonic Swatbots and showed them around. However, when he saw Sonic's Power Ring, he knew it would help solve the energy problem in Lower Mobius and he hatched a plan, and stole the Power Rock, the power Source behind the creation of the Power Rings. He was caught and returned it, saying sorry for stealing it but he felt it was the only way. Sonic gave him half of the Power Rock, which then appeared to be all they needed.
