Shortfuse started life as a Young quick to anger Squirrel called 'Shorty' until Robotnik raided the Green Hill Zone and turned his captured prisons into Badniks. However, he had a different fate in store for Shorty as he was turned into a Prototype of a new Badnik the 'Cyberniks', once inside the armour, made from a Metal created by Tenko, there was no way to be saved. However, Shorty tried to fight and the damage he did to the machines meant the Badnik Brainwashing program didn't fully affect him and he had his own free will. After a Fight with Robotnik, Shorty, now called 'Shortfuse' went off to join the fight against Robotnik. But team life was not his style and so he fought alone. When he was next seen, the Character had grown up a bit and saved Tekno because he knew she made the Metal and was able to join him and upgrade his Armour. They worked together trying to stop Robotnik in there own ways. Over the times, Shortfuse had a Fight when he first Met Knuckles and ending up joining Sonic's Gang of Freedom Fighters for a short time. After the Destruction of there Underground base and Sonic being trapped in the Special Zone, the Freedom Fighters moved into Tekno's Lab, used as a Base for Shortfuse and carried on the fight. After the Events of issue 100, when the effects of the EMP cut the power inside Shortfuse's suit for a while, He was found buried in rock. Since Robotnik was no longer around, he tried to get a next job but nothing worked for him. When some Aliens appeared wanting help with there own war, Shortfuse went off to join the fight. When next seen, he has been taken control of by the villain in that war but was freed by Tekno and Amy. He then Returned to Mobuis. After a long time, Tekno was able to make a program that Freed Shorty from his Cybernik shell, and he could put it on or take it off at will. This did not last long as he got into a fight with Vermin, a Cybernik loyal to Robotnik, and sent him the Program as a way to remove him as a threat. He then destroyed the Vermin suit from within. Shortfuse was returned to being trapped in his armour. Later, When Robotnik gain ultimate power and almost destroyed all of mobuis, Shortfuse was able to intercept Robotnik's machine that was giving him the power and took it into his suit. However, the suit was unable to take it, and though it stopped Robotnik, the Suit was destroyed, Freeing Shorty forever
